The Care Leavers Association says that “Any adult who spent time in care as a child (under the age of 18) is a careleaver. The care could have been in foster care, residential care (semi-independent accommodation), or other arrangements outside your direct family.
The law (The Children Act 1989) says that we have a responsibility to 'looked after’ and previously ‘looked after’ children and young people in and out of the care system. It also means that you are entitled to some ongoing help and support from Children's Services after you leave care.
Our Children in Care and Leaving Care Team is called Here4U and their office is based in Woodley. The team is made up of Social Workers and Personal Advisors.
